Which Age Group am I in?

For the U13, U15 and U17 it is your age on the 31st August this competition year that counts. For example, if your age will be 11 or 12 on that day, you are an Under 13 for both the summer season and the following winter season. U20's must be aged 17,18 or 19 on the coming 31 December. Veterans go by age on the day of competition. Vet Men start at 35, but over 40 for road race championships. There can also be V50, V60 etc. Vet Ladies start at 35, for Sussex County Championship Road Races the minimum age for Lady Vets is 40 years. Everybody else is a 'Senior'.
These definitions are not the easiest to explain or remember and there are certain practices for some competitions, for example U13 and U15 can compete UP one age group if there are no events of their own and U17 and U20 can compete as Seniors. If in doubt ASK.

Harriers Junior Academy

This new concept commenced in April 2009 to accommodate the growing numbers of under 13s and, in particular, the influx of new members in that age group at the beginning of the track and field season. They will be expected to wear the club vest with pride and compete when chosen in the Sussex U13 League and the National Young Athletes League. Lead coaches in the disciplines are Sprints Alan Denyer, Jumps Jennie Neal and Throws Caroline Garratt.
