VACS Champs 2010 - [10th Feb 2010]
A fine body of Masters travelled to Lee Valley for the VETS AC champs on 31/1/10. Although overall entries were down on last year, probably as very early in the season and they all feared the Worthing Vest, some good performances were put in by the Worthing Possee! Ali Duke took gold in the Pole Vault & Long Jump (W40), Alan Easey (correct spelling!) soared to gold in the Pole Vault and battled on for a sterling performance in the M45 British Pentathlon earning himself a silver medal, despite his ongoing heel problems. Richard VAN Buckingham unfortunatley retired....(injured) from the M40 Penthalon with a troublesome hamstring and had to miss out on the 1000m (much to his disgust) despite a leg massage which he enjoyed a little too much. Chairman Brian Matthews took two golds in the 60m & 200m in the M50s and Andy Hunt managed a gold in the 800m (only two in the M40s) and bronze in the 400m an hour later. A very long day was concluded at BURGER KING for much needed carbohydrate replenishment!!! Easy on the fries Ali!!!! (Pics to follow)
