Contact either the Membership Secretary or any of the other officials to be found on the club's 'Contacts' page if you would like more information than is shown on this website. Otherwise, please feel free to visit us at the Worthing Leisure Centre on any suitable training session. We encourage newcomers to join an appropriate training programme for a week or two to establish that this is the right sport and the right club for you. At that stage, you will be invited to become a member on the terms current at the time. Membership forms are available from most officials.
All athletes aged 11 and over, who wish to compete in any UKA recognised event are required to pay an affiliation fee of £5. This should be paid with the subscription to the club, who will remit it to England Athletics, our National Governing Body within UK Athletics. At present, the annual membership fees from April to March are:
Juniors up to 16yrs - £35
Seniors 17yrs and over - £40 (please enquire about family rates)
Competition for youngsters under the age of 11 is limited, but for those eligible athletes, who pay the fee, there are several benefits, including preferential rates, when entering UKA registered meetings and road races.
Benefits gained from joining Worthing Harriers are:
Free training from qualified coaches, who will help you achieve your personal goals.
Use of the field and track facilities free of charge, to pursue your chosen discipline.
The opportunity to compete at local, County, National and International levels.
Regular information about forthcoming events.
All within a sporting and friendly atmosphere.
And discounts at some local suppliers of athletic clothing and equipment.
For new members joining between October 1st and December 31st, the membership fee is reduced to £27 and £23.50 respectively, plus if appropriate, the national UKA affiliation fee of £5. New members joining after January 1st pay the full annual subscription, which then takes them through to March 31st of the following year.
If you have been a member of another athletic club, you must first resign from that club and complete the requisite transfer form, available from the Secretary of either club. There may be a statutory waiting period in some cases, but athletes under 15 are exempt from this rule and are able to change clubs just once during each age group.
To compete for the club, your subscription must be up-to-date and you are required to wear a club vest.
