• Special Olympics squad update

    Its been a busy weekend for the Special Olympics squad with 19 athletes going to Perivale to compete in the DSE National qualifying, followed by at trip to Eastbourne on Sunday to compete in the South East Regional’s.

    After a very early start on Saturday the athletes were keen to get going and were soon producing the performances they had hoped for.  Star athlete Sam Gratton qualified for Nationals in all 4 of his events with PB’s in 100mtrs, 200mtrs, 800mtrs, and long jump followed by James Crispin qualifying in 3 events all with PBs High jump, long jump and 100mtrs.


    His brother Lewis got 3 PBs in long jump, javelin, and 100mtrs also qualifying for the Nationals. Phil Williamson also qualified with PBs in 100mtrs & 200mtrs. Other national qualifiers were Matt Hillman, Long Jump and 400mtrs, Ashleigh West and Louis Pace long jump, Luke Hibberd javelin and James Deedman shot and 100mtrs.

     

    The squad continued their success on the Sunday taking 10 gold 11 silver and 5 bronze medals at the Eastbourne meeting. Our National qualifiers head to Blackpool on the 8th July, best of luck guys you are doing the club proud.
