Monthly Archives: May 2012
The Worthing 10K is now just two weeks away. Whilst we are accepting entries on the day we highly recommend entering in advance; the race office can become very congested on race night. The deadline for online and postal entries is Monday 28th May.
For those that have already entered, you will be receiving your race packs by the end of week ending 2nd June.
The busy period of May continued with SAL, Young Athletes, Fun Run Run League and Special Olympics Events over the last few days.
On Saturday the SAL team made the long trip to Milton Keynes, after leading the match at the halfway stage the final result saw the team finish in third place behind Herts Phoenix and match winners Milton Keynes. The stand out performer of the day was Laura Duke who competed in no less than 10 events scoring a massive 30pts for the team with two new personal bests (This most be a League record for one athlete!). Elsewhere there were first places for Adam Stainsby in the 3K Steeplechase with a new PB of 9:52.02, Craig Baker in the 110 Hurdles with 15.47secs, Noel Butler in the Long Jump 6.55m, and Rob Duke in the Shot Putt 12.17m (PB). Well done to all competitors, there were some excellent performances and new personal bests for the team. The next league match is on Saturday 9th June against teams all above us in the league; we were only a couple of athletes off winning this weekends match and will be looking to take a strong team to Chelmsford. read more…

Congratulations to the following early season club record breakers:

Masters O40 Long Jump – 5.99m
Simon Evans
Senior Mens Hammer Throw – 50.44m
Emma Perkins
Senior Womens High Jump – 1.89m

U13 Girls 150m – 19.7s (Equals current club record)
A handful of Harriers competed in the British University Championships held at the Olympic Stadium at the weekend. Emma Perkins commenced her Summer season with 1.78m in the high jump to win a silver medal, and Rebecca Moore ran a new 10K PB of 35.10mins to finish 4th and just out of the medals; sub 35 certainly looks within reach now for Rebecca.
In the mens 800m, Mark Burchett (1:55:32) and Adam Stainsby (1:57:21) both reached the semi finals of a competitive field. Good performances guys; both looking on course for PBs by the end of the season.
